Merrell Lane

The Merrell Lane Memorial Aviation Scholarship was established in memory of Merrell Lane, co-founder and the first Chairman of the Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC). Each year NIMAC awards a $1500 scholarship to a well deserving enlisted member assigned to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station who has shown an interest in the aviation field.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Age 18 - 35

Enlisted member currently assigned to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station

Member is enrolled in an accredited private pilot licensing program OR enrolled in an aviation related curriculum at an accredited College/University.

To apply, mail your application along with the following:

Essay between 250-300 words on the subject "Why I Have an Interest in Aviation”. Include in this essay your future plans as they relate to aviation.

If applying based upon your enrollment at an accredited college/university, please enclose a copy of your latest college transcript or proof of acceptance into an aviation related education program.

If applying based upon your enrollment in an accredited private pilot licensing program, please include a letter of recommendation from your flight instructor or flight school official.
